"АКВАКУЛЬТУРА ОСЕТРОВЫХ РЫБ: ДОСТИЖЕНИЯ И ПЕРСПЕКТИВЫ РАЗВИТИЯ".

Условия участия в работе конференции
Для участия в конференции необходимо выслать в адрес оргкомитета
заявку согласно приложению #1, материалы докладов. Материалы докладов
объемом не более 3 страниц машинописного текста (формат А4)
представляются на русском языке в электронном виде (E-mail),
использовать редактор Win Word 6.0 - 7.0, 1 экземпляр в распечатанном
виде, подписанный всеми авторами. Шрифт Times New Roman, размер 12,
интервал одинарный, отступ 1,0 см, поля - 2,5 см, выравнивание по
ширине, автоматический перенос. Название материалов - прописными
буквами, шрифт - жирный. Ниже строчными буквами, через интервал -
фамилии и инициалы автора(ов), далее через интервал печатается полное
название учреждения, представившего материалы доклада, адрес, страна и
E-mail; выравнивание - по центру. После отступа в два интервала
следует основной текст. Таблицы следует представлять в тексте с
номерами и заголовками. Список литературы составляется согласно ГОСТ
7,1-84 "Библиографическое описание документа. Общие требования и
правила составления". Аннотация представляется отдельным файлом с
названием и персоналиями на русском и английском языках объемом не
более 10 строк. Тексты, не отвечающие теме конференции или присланные
с нарушением правил оформления, рассматриваться не будут.
Оплата за участие, публикацию и ужины (по желанию) производится до 1
января 2006 г. Всю необходимую информацию по оплате вы можете узнать,
связавшись с нами по телефону, факсу или электронной почте.

LETTER OF INFORMATION #1

The Federal Fishery Agency of the Russian Federation, The Government
of the Astrakhan Region and The Federal State Unitary Enterprise
"BIOS" Research-and-Production Center for Sturgeon Breeding will hold
the 4th International Scientific and Practical Conference "STURGEON
AQUACULTURE: ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT" on March
13-15, 2006.
Place of the conference: City of Astrakhan.

Sections:
1. General issues of sturgeon biology.
2. Formation and use of reproductive sturgeon brood stocks.
3. Commodity sturgeon aquaculture.
4. Gene pool preservation and reproduction of natural sturgeon
populations.
5. Sturgeon feeding and diseases.

Ways of participation in the conference:
1. Verbal plenary report;
2. Verbal sectional report;
3. Non-verbal report;
4. Participation with no report.

Terms of participation in the conference:
In order to participate in the conference, please send Your
application (see attachment 1) and reports to the address of the
organizing committee. The reports shall be sent by e-mail and shall
not exceed 3 pages of typed text on standard A4 paper, in Russian or
English, in WinWord 6.0-7.0. Please, provide 1 printed copy signed by
all the authors. Font: Times New Roman 12, single spaced, 1cm indent,
2.5cm margin throughout, edgewise justification, with automatic
hyphens. Title of the materials shall be in capital letters, in bold.
Below in lower-case letters, after single spacing, shall be the Family
name(s) and initials of the author(s). Then, after single spacing,
shall be the full name of the organization, which provided the
materials of the report, its address, country and e-mail; with
centered justification. The main text follows after the double
spacing. Tables in the text shall be numbered and titled. The
bibliography shall be compiled according to GOST 7.1-84 "The
bibliographical description of a document. General requirements and
rules of compilation". The abstract shall be presented in a separate
file with the title and name(s) of author(s) in Russian and English,
10 lines or less. Texts irrelevant to the theme of the conference or
wrongly prepared shall not be considered.
The payment deadline for participation, publication and dinners (if
needed) shall be January 1, 2006. Information on the fees is
available upon request.

Fourth Biodiversity Competition in Azerbaijan Finalized

Today BP, on behalf of its partners in the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC),
the Shah Deniz Project and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export and the South Caucasus
Pipleline (SCP) gas export pipelines announced the 4th Biodiversity Competition award in
Azerbaijan on the theme of Ecology and Economy in Harmony". The award presentation ceremony was
held today in the Hyatt-Nakhchivan hotel and was attended by a large group of representatives
of all relevant organisations, government authorities, non-governmental organisations and the
media.

The competition is part of BP's and its partners' Biodiversity Strategy in Azerbaijan and
supports their commitment to undertaking a series of specific biodiversity initiatives in the
countries and areas where we operate. This year's competition was based on the success of the
first three competitions and had the same objective, which is to make a real, measurable and
positive impact on the biodiversity of the world. It aimed to find the best ideas for raising
awareness of the importance of presevation of the world's biodiversity, ideas which can be
implemented in a practical way both today and in the future.

This year's competition also included an innovation. For the first time this year we introduced
a second category - biodiversity articles and video materials - to promote environmental
journalism.

The competition was announced in June, 2005 via detailed advertisements in the press. Two
boards were set up to review the submitted proposals, which were evaluated through a three-stage
process - first, by the Awards Committee for screening of all submissions, second, by the
Scientific Advisory Panel for technical evaluation and then by the Awards Committee for making
sure that the projects meet BP's standards and policies.

On the Best Biodiversity Project category 43 projects from 27 organisations had been
entered in the competition by the July 15, 2005 deadline. The projects, which were selected at
the first stage as being relevant to the theme of the competition, underwent further evaluation,
and some others were assessed as being of a social or environmental nature and as such were
presented to BP's relevant departments for further consideration.

As a result of the three-stage evaluation process the main prize of this year's competition
has been awarded to the Society of Azerbaijan Botanists for the project Absheron's Natural
Monuments". The value of the project is $ 20,000.

The second prize, and an award of $3.000 goes to the non-govenmental organisation Eco-Real",
for their project Restoration and Protection of Trout in Kateberichay River in the Davachi
District in Azerbaijan."

The third prize goes to the Society of Azerbaijan Zoologists, for their proposal entitled
Prospects for Restoration of Habitats and Numbers of East Caucasian Tur and Chamois and
organization of social and ecological movement for conservation of these species on the southern
slope of the Greater Caucasus- the Sheki and Oguz districts of Azerbaijan. The value of the
projects is $2000.

In addition, two participants have been highly commended by the judging panel - The Ministry
of Ecology and Natural Resources' Scientific Research Institute of Forestry" for their project
Establishment of the Seed Bank for the Rare and Endangered Plants of Absheron Flora", and the
non-governmental organization Karvan", for their project Priorities of Conserving Biological
Diversity in the Azerbaijan Sector of the Caspian Sea". These organizations have been awarded
$500 each, which they will use for capacity building purposes.

On the best Biodiversity Article and Video Material category we received 18 entries from 9
authors and one team of authors by the July 15 deadline. Of these 12 were newspaper articles, 2
- scientific research papers, 2 - books, and one interactive computer application on CD. The
judging panel has concluded that as none of the submissions fully met all the requirements of
the competition this year, there would not be a 1st prize award.

The second prize and an award of $500 have been awarded to Sevinj Heydarova for her interview
headlined A City Without Birds" and her article The Tree Burners".

The third prize and an award of $300 goes to Nizami Huseynov for his article The Problems of
the Lankaran Coasts of the Caspian "

Notes to Editors:

BP environmental policy goal is "no damage to the environment". Biodiversity occupies an
important place in the Environmental Strategy of the BP Group. As BP Chief Executive Officer
Lord John Browne states: We can have a real, measurable and positive impact on the biodiversity
of the world. That is a high aspiration - but like our other aspirations we're determined to
show that we can deliver.

To date BP has supported in Azerbaijan several important biodiversity initiatives. These
include a tortoise breeding project, a study of fish off the coast of Sangachal, a study of
plants and mammals along the existing and planned pipeline routes, and a joint project with the
Caspian Environmental Programme on the development of a biodiversity convention. To ensure the
widest possible use, BP has shared its environmental and biodiversity data with Caspian littoral
countries through the Caspian Environmental Programme. BP also supports a project aimed at
rehabilitation of Tugay Forests in Azerbaijan. This project is being implemented in
collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Azerbaijan's experts.
