THE NEW WORLD BANK ENVIRONMENT STRATEGY

The new World Bank Environment Strategy is a product of a multiyear
effort that builds upon ongoing programs of the World Bank Group, and
includes an extensive evaluation of the Bank's past performance and
numerous consultations with client governments, civil society,
multilateral development agencies and private sector. Responding to
these inputs, and keeping with the Bank's mission of poverty reduction,
the Strategy gives priority to issues where the links between poverty
and environment are particularly strong.
