Second Annual Local NGO Fair to Take Place
in Azerbaijan in May "Azerbaijanis helping Azerbaijanis: Solutions for the Future"

On June 3, 2000, the First Annual Local NGO Fair took place in Baku.
Fifty-seven organizations from Baku and the regions took part in the
Fair. Over 1500 visitors attended the event, which received extensive
media coverage. The Second Annual Local NGO Fair will take place
this spring, showcasing the achievements of over 80 local NGOs in the
fields of children, the disabled, health, the environment and others.
This year, the Fair will include a separate Book Fair dedicated to
the publications of the Azerbaijani NGO sector.

The Fair aims to raise public awareness of the local NGO sector
amongst the general population, the government, business sector, the
media, and international organizations. Additionally, the Fair
provides an opportunity for local NGOs to learn more about each
other's work and to make valuable contacts with other local NGOs, as
well as with representatives of other sectors in society.

This year's exhibition will take place May 25-26, 2001 at the Indoor
Games Palace on the Boulevard.
