Application deadline: May 18, 2001. Small grants program A special grants program is being held to encourage cooperation between Baku and regional NGOs in Azerbaijan. Joint projects may be submitted by organizations working on ecological and social issues or on the development of civil society. Application deadline: May 10, 2001 (15:00) Project submission deadline: June 8, 2001 (15:00) Cooperative Grants Program ISAR would like to announce the following changes to its cooperative grants program. Effective immediately, projects from two or more organizations can be submitted for the program. ·If the project is submitted by two NGOs, the budget should not exceed $500; If it is submitted by 3 or more NGOs, the budget of the first project submitted by these organizations should not exceed the amount of $500; in case of successful implementation of the project, this group of NGOs (or this group of NGOs plus additional organizations) may submit a second project with a budget of up to $1000. As in the past, the joint NGO projects directed to solutions for ecological and social problems, also, development of the civil society will be supported. As before, joint projects may be submitted by organizations working on ecological and social issues or on the development of civil society. Grant rounds will be held on a monthly basis. Applications for participation in the program are accepted until the second Wednesday of each month. Travel Grant Program This program supports the travel of permanent NGO staff to conferences, seminars, and trainings necessary for the development of the organization and for the improvement of professional level of NGO staff. Grant rounds are held each month. Applications are accepted until the second Wednesday of each month. The grants are given on a competitive basis and are only available to registered NGOs. For more detailed information, please contact the ISAR-Azerbaijan Grant Program staff. ISAR-Azerbaijan Grant Program staff are available to provide regular consultations about application preparation and grant writing. Consultations are available Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 till 13:00, Wednesday and Friday from 14:00 till 17:00. Consultations will not be conducted during the last three days before application deadlines. Contacts: ngo@isar-az.org *** Second Annual Local NGO Fair to Take Place in Azerbaijan in May "Azerbaijanis helping Azerbaijanis: Solutions for the Future" On June 3, 2000, the First Annual Local NGO Fair took place in Baku. Fifty-seven organizations from Baku and the regions took part in the Fair. Over 1500 visitors attended the event, which received extensive media coverage. The Second Annual Local NGO Fair will take place this spring, showcasing the achievements of over 80 local NGOs in the fields of children, the disabled, health, the environment and others. This year, the Fair will include a separate Book Fair dedicated to the publications of the Azerbaijani NGO sector. The Fair aims to raise public awareness of the local NGO sector amongst the general population, the government, business sector, the media, and international organizations. Additionally, the Fair provides an opportunity for local NGOs to learn more about each other's work and to make valuable contacts with other local NGOs, as well as with representatives of other sectors in society. This year's exhibition will take place May 25-26, 2001 at the Indoor Games Palace on the Boulevard.
